NewsPlease note that the Level Crossing on Station road at the station will be closed from 10pm on the 12th July to 9am on the 13th July & 10pm on the 14th July to 7am on the 15 July for maintainance workThings are starting to happen to the station now, we have stopped the roof leaking on the old station masters living room, and have got the walls of this room damp proofed, the exterior wall has now been re rendered and will be painted into the original 1960's colours soon. The cast iron arched window has been totally stripped of layers of paint and putty and new glass fitted, We are in the process of getting original profile facia boards made up to match the rest of the building to replace the skirting boards that are fitted at the moment.once this is complete we will start to re-instate the original path to the side and lay some turf to brighten up this corner.We are still in talks with Network Rail & Northern regarding the car park and the entrance.We are looking for old photos or any information on the buildings at North Howden to help with the restoration of the builing and also to publish on this website to show how things were in the good old days.Hopefully by the autumm we will have a big announcment regarding the station, so keep looking |
