NewsWe will hopefully get planning permission granted to re-instate 4 doorways to the building. which will give the house more flexability, in the planning as well is to raise the second chimney stack to the same height as the main chimney and to seal up the french door on the car park side and put the two little windows back in which was for the ladies toilets.CAR PARK* Car park work is now due to start on the 14th September 2009*After over 9 months of talks with First Hull trains and Northern Rail. the proposed land swap will happen, The old garden area will be converted into parking spaces and the new entrance will be between the phone box and the brick weigh building. The old entrance which is been used now will become the entrance for Station House, the new revamped car park will have 46 car park spaces and the new entrance will give better visability for cars exiting the car park and will be wide enough for 2 vehicles so the entrance will not become blocked when car want to come into the car park as at the same time a cars exiting.Flyers and posters will be put on cars and the waiting shelters the week before the works are starting. the work is expected to take 5 days.STATION PLATFORMSPlease note that Howden station is un-manned and due to the public address system still not working there is no upto date travel information, however there is on this website, just click the train times link on the left. there are also these phone numbers as well, National Rail Enquiries 08457 48 49 50, Train Tracker 0871 200 49 50. First Hull Trains will be putting a poster up on the station with these numbers as well.The station has now been totally re-painted into Northern Rails colour scheme and the trees on platform 1 overhanging the waiting shelter have been cut down as well. New level crossing barriers are now fitted . there are some more trees that are going to be cut down on platform 1 (possibly to make way for the long delayed info screen)We have updated the pictures page to show what we have done in the sitting room with some before and after shots together.We are looking for old photos or any information on the buildings at North Howden to help with the restoration of the builing and also to publish on this website to show how things were in the good old days. |
